· Open-ended, meaning there is no conclusive answer to the question; when you ask this question, you instead receive a variety of responses or points of view.

So, as researchers and writers, you have to learn how to pose appropriate research questions to guide the research and writing process.

This activity will help you formulate an appropriate, open-ended question about a problem that will guide your research for your argument paper.

Follow these instructions carefully:

1. Choose a topic to research and write about. Tell me what it is!

2. Write 5-10 sentences about why this topic interests you.

3. Write 3 to 4 possible research questions about that topic.

4. Which question do you think is most appropriate for this assignment? Why? Remember, the best question will address a problem and be open-ended.
