However, Steve Russell, Nolan Bushnell, and Ralph Baer are most responsible for the modern-day video games. A video game when a person has control over the screen and can move/control what happens on the screen, and into the game. Today, games are typically played on game consoles such as Xbox, PlayStation, and Nintendo, as well as on computers like PC and Mac. There are also many games that people play via smartphones. Rising costs in the production of games have led to hypercommercialism and a reliance on blockbusters, franchises, and sequels. It has become extremely reliable, convenient, and easy to play video games online with friends from anywhere in the world. Technology has allowed for a better and much more detailed gaming experience, as well as working properly and becoming easy to navigate through. This brings me to my next point about franchise games: many games today often have a brand or story underlying, which have continuously brings in consistent customers and are widely known. Games like Call of Duty, Fortnite, Rocket League, League of Legends, EA Sports, all are popular games that thousands of people play daily, and have been playing these games or franchise games for the past decade, there are even careers that are built off of playing these types of games professionally, or even for streaming purposes with YouTube and twitch. Questions/ food for thought Some questions I have about gaming stem back to the creation of games. It is so amazing that people are able to create games that look and feel so realistic in modern times. Some questions I have wondered are how many people does it take to perfect the creation of a game? And how long does it take to create a game from scratch? Lastly, how do people not run out of ideas for new, innovative, and exciting games?
