The image features a circular diagram representing various components of school readiness. At the center, a large blue circle contains the text “Children Are Ready for School.” Surrounding this central circle are five smaller circles, each labeled with a category. Starting from the top and moving clockwise are: “Ready Educators” in red, “Ready Families” in green, “Ready Schools” in purple, “Ready Communities” in blue, and “Ready Systems” in orange. Arrows connect these circles, indicating a cyclical relationship. Text between the circles provides additional context: “Physical Development and Health” between Ready Educators and Systems, “Social and Emotional Development” near Families, “Approaches to Learning” near Schools, “Cognition and General Knowledge” near Communities, and “Language and Early Literacy” nearby Systems.

Step 1-.TECH340. Module 5: Module Notes: Cleaner Fuel
Despite fracking’s climb to fame, it has not been without controversy. Most notably, these controversies have surrounded water contamination and earthquakes. Though “the jury is still out” on the whether or not fracking is actually to blame for increased seismic activities and water issues, preliminary data does show at least some correlation (Nersesian, 2016). You will learn more about fracking in this week’s discussion forum.
Natural gas can be utilized to generate electricity in a number of ways. In a more traditional design, it is used as a heat source for converting water into steam. Steam is then used to spin a turbine. This rotational force is transferred to a generator for purposes of producing electricity. However, natural gas can also be used in a simpler and more direct way. allowing for quick start-ups and making it ideal for periods when the demand for electricity is high.
Step 2:
•	What do you see as the most important idea of the passage as a whole?
Fracking has grown in popularity with controversy about the side effects. It is not proven to be the cause but there is some evidence. Fracking gives us natural gases that are used to generate electricity through different methods.
•	What other ideas, information, or evidence did the passage use to support the main idea?
© Not 100% proven to cause the side effects.
© Gases used to heat water into steam.
© Gases used for quick start-ups during high demand periods.
Step 3:
Fracking has grown in popularity, but there is controversy involved due to the side effects it has on the world. The evidence shows that fracking is partially responsible for an increase in water contamination and earthquakes (Nersesian. 2016). to generate electricity. One method is to use heat water into steam to generate the electricity, however

GCU acknowledges that every learner has unique life experiences that contribute to their learning and engagement with course content. In this course, we will address the topic of suicide prevention which you may find triggering. This material is integrated into the curriculum for the purpose of building knowledge to support learners in professional practice. If you encounter a topic that is triggering for you, GCU encourages you to access support through available resources, such as the following: National Suicide Prevention Lifeline: 1-800-273-TALK (8255) GCU Wellness Check: (602) 639-8100, wellnesscheck@gcu.edu Apple or Android App: A Friend Asks, from The Jason Foundation A family night is often held at the beginning of the school year for parents/guardians to receive critical information regarding students learning during the school year. At this event, parents/guardians often want to know ways to best support their students at home. For this assignment, imagine the school in which you are teaching has seen a decline in the social and emotional learning students are exhibiting. Create a digital newsletter for families to communicate strategies for supporting students’ personal and social growth and development. The newsletter will be provided to families who attend an upcoming Family Night and emailed to those who are unable to attend. Using a free digital platform of your choice (e.g., Canva, Word, Genially, Visme), create a two-page digital newsletter. Your newsletter should include the following:

Provide 2-3 social and emotional learning (SEL) strategies that are universal for all students and can also be reinforced at home. Some suggestions may include strategies to address cyberbullying, digital citizenship, self-esteem, and peer pressure.
Discuss 2-3 community-building strategies you will employ throughout the year to promote inclusivity, cultural awareness, and acceptance among all students in the classroom.
Discuss 2-3 suicide prevention strategies, including warning signs and/or risk factors for suicide in children and early adolescents.
Provide at least one resource for families for each of the following categories: SEL strategies, community building, and suicide prevention.

Since the newsletter will be used to communicate with parents and guardians, keep the tone and language appropriate for the audience and communicate the information in a powerful but empathetic way. The newsletter should include graphics that are relevant to the content, visually appealing, and use space appropriately. Support your newsletter with 2-3 scholarly resources. Submit a link to or PDF of your digital newsletter and resources in a single document. Ensure that others can access and view the link prior to submitting. While APA Style is not required for the body of this assignment, solid academic writing is expected, and documentation of sources should be presented using APA formatting guidelines, which can be found in the APA Style Guide, located in the Student Success Center. This assignment uses a rubric. Review the rubric prior to beginning the assignment to become familiar with the expectations for successful completion.

Identify places in society where equal gender roles exist. Are they in certain kinds of families? Are they in certain kinds of workplaces? Where are equal gender roles least likely to exist?

q2

Write down the first 5 things that come to mind when you think of being attracted to someone.

Darwin believed that men and women picked mates based on certain attraction cues that ensure the successful reproduction of the human species. Based on what you’ve learned and your dating experiences, please answer the following questions: Is there anything from your list that corresponds with Darwin’s Evolutionary theory? Please share your results. Did anything surprise you?

This week you read about the different stages and types of relationships (dating, hooking up, cohabitating, and marriage). Wrap up this week by sharing your thoughts on the future of “relationships”? For example, do you think people will continue to search for their soulmate or will marriage become a thing of the past? Is technology making it easier or more difficult for people to maintain healthy relationships? What theory made the most sense to you and why?

Q3

One of the most prolific landmark cases in privacy law regarding public and private figures ironically involved Hustler Magazine, where almost nothing is private. Review the following advertisement which ran in an edition of Hustler magazine and then read the case brief for Hustler v. Fallwell.

In your discussion post, first note the key elements of the case. Second, do you agree with how the court outlines public and private figures based on this case?

Image of the Parody Advertisement – https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hustler_Magazine_v._Falwell

Hustler v. Falwell – https://www.oyez.org/cases/1987/86-1278

Q4

What change theory will you use in your strategic plan? Provide a rationale of that choice and list what problems or difficulties may be anticipated based upon the theory in achieving your project goals. Provide an example of the theory applied in recent unanticipated event in your workplace or community organization.

Q5

Part A

This week, we are focusing on social change in our discussions. You will often be asked to think about social change during your time at Walden, and hopefully, you will pursue social change in your professional life as well.

Let’s begin by looking at how social change is defined within Walden’s 2020-21 catalog:

“Walden University defines positive social change as a deliberate process of creating and applying ideas, strategies, and actions to promote the worth, dignity, and development of individuals, communities, organizations, institutions, cultures, and societies. Positive social change results in the improvement of human and social conditions.”

In at least one paragraph, complete the questions/tasks below. Be as specific as possible:

· What is your definition of social change? This answer should come from you, so please do not look up any definitions. This is about your thoughts.

· How does social change happen in your life? Think about different aspects of your life, including personal, professional, and educational.

· Quote an idea or passage from Walden’s definition.

· Explain how the quote connects with your own ideas about social change.

Weekly Discussion Challenge: Look at Part A. In a one sentence summary, explain the main idea of Walden’s social change definition in your own words. Underline this sentence in your posting.

Part B

Click the link below for John Flintoff’s TED talk, How to change the world :

· Flintoff, J. (2012). How to change the world

? Links to an external site.. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JH6FBwbqxUA&feature=youtu.be

Note: The approximate length of this media piece is 17 minutes.

? Click to access instructions for accessing transcript

· Download accessing transcript for this TED Talk.

In Part A of this discussion, you are thinking about your definition and ideas about social change. In John Flintoff’s TED Talk, he explains how social change can be made with the smallest gestures that do not require wealth or celebrity. Keep this in mind, as you watch, listen to, or read the transcript of Flintoff’s Talk.

In at least one paragraph (5-7 sentences), complete the questions/tasks below. Be as specific as possible:

· Introduce the TED Talk by author and/or title, and then give a short summary (tell what it is about in your own words).

· Think about the ideas you discussed in Part A. How do Flintoff’s ideas tie in with your views of social change? Use a direct quote from the TED Talk and follow it with at least one sentence of your own commentary/reaction to the quote.

Assessment Description

Backward design is a planning process that focuses first on developing the learning goals/outcomes and ways for students to demonstrate mastery of the learning outcomes (assessments). Planning of teaching methods and activities is done to support the outcomes/goals and to scaffold student learning toward demonstrating mastery of the evaluations. This planning process is referred to as “planning with the end in mind.”

Using the science standards from Mississippi (MDE), select a K-8 grade level to create a weeklong inquiry-based unit that will integrate multiple content areas, including health, technology, math, and literacy. For assignments 2, 3, and 4, you will complete a portion of the Science Unit Plan template.

Note: Use the same standards and learning objectives for assignments 2-4, as well as the benchmark assignment in assignment 5. Review these assignments before writing your learning activity, so you are familiar with the upcoming expectations.

Part 1: Standards, Learning Objectives, and Assessments

For this assignment, complete the following components in the “Science Unit Plan” template:

· Lesson Title and Brief Summary: Include a daily lesson title and summarize the scope/intent of the lesson.

· National/State Standard(s): List the specific grade-level standards that will be taught throughout the week. Include the standards, along with the performance indicators and the standard language, in their entirety.

· Learning Objectives: Write daily, measurable learning objectives that align with the national/state standards and specify what will be assessed after the lesson. Note: This should not be a summary of the lesson, but a measurable statement demonstrating what the student will be evaluated on after the lesson. For instance, “understand” is not measurable, but “describe” and “identify” are.

· Three-Dimensional Learning: Describe the crosscutting concepts and the science and engineering practices that support the learning objectives. Include a brief description of how these will be integrated throughout the weekly plan.

· Formative Assessments: Describe how you will formatively assess the learning objectives for the lessons. These should be designed to provide data on student performance for monitoring and adjusting instruction, and provide students with feedback so they can evaluate and adjust their learning.

· Summative Assessment: Describe a summative assessment that measures the learning for the unit. This should provide the student with an opportunity to demonstrate mastery of the standards.

· Differentiation of Assessments: Describe how the formative and summative assessments will be differentiated to support students with disabilities, students with gifted abilities, ELLs, and early finishers.

Part 2: Reflection

In 250-500 words, summarize and reflect on the process of beginning your unit plan. Include the following in your reflection:

· Discuss your experience so far with the process of backward design in planning your science unit and describe how it compares with other planning experiences you have had throughout your coursework.

· Describe how the assessments chosen for your unit plan support the three dimensions of science learning.

· Explain the factors you considered when designing assessments that are aligned to learning objectives and state standards. Additionally, discuss how you will ensure all students are prepared for the evaluations by making appropriate modifications and accommodations for students with disabilities and language learning needs.

Support your assignment with a minimum of two scholarly resources.

While APA Style is not required for the body of this assignment, solid academic writing is expected, and documentation of sources should be presented using APA formatting guidelines, which can be found in the APA Style Guide, located in the Student Success Center.

This assignment uses a rubric. Review the rubric before beginning the assignment to familiarize yourself with the expectations for successful completion.

You are required to submit this assignment to LopesWrite. A link to the LopesWrite Technical Support Articles is located in Class Resources if you need assistance.

Paraphrasing
In this team discussion, you will practice your paraphrasing skills. These skills, which are essential for students and writers, will help you to more easily incorporate information and evidence from sources into your writing.
Step 1: Identify a short passage from a source that you want to paraphrase. For example, you could select a passage from one of your textbooks, a passage from a source in the library, or even part of the module notes in this course. Your passage should be at least 3-4 sentences long but no longer than a few paragraphs.
Step 2: Read the passage slowly and carefully, answering the following questions in your own words. (Don’t try to paraphrase the passage yet At this point simply answer the questions below.)
•	What do you see as the most important idea of the passage as a whole? Try to write this in your own words using just 1-2 sentences.
•	What other ideas, information, or evidence did the passage use to support the main idea? Make a list
Step 3: Put the passage away so that you are not looking at it. Now. using only your memory and your notes from Step 2. re-write the passage in your own words. Don’t try to re-create the passage word-for-word. Instead, try to capture the some ideas using your own words.
Step 4: Look at your paraphrase side by side with the original passage. Make sure it doesn’t match the original passage with only a few words changed. This may be unavoidable for a few key words or phrases, but it should not be true for the paraphrase as a whole. If it is too close to the original passage, return to Step 3 and try again.
Step 5: In your initial discussion post, submit your original passage, the notes you created in Step 2. and the final paraphrase you created in Step 3. Make sure to clearly label each part of your post (original passage, step 2, and step 3). In addition, write approximately 100 words describing what you learned from this process. Was the process helpful for you? If so. why? If not. why not?
