GHL5020 – Consumer Law Assessment Task
Analyse the following case and prepare 2000 words report based on the requirements given.
Ahmed purchased a washing machine from a renowned company. The price of the machine was 500 OMR. The company provided the receipt for the purchase. The money was paid in cash. The machine model was semi-automatic and it was with a warranty of 3 years. For 2 years there was no problem in the functioning of the machine. But due to water logging around the machine while washing clothes the main rotator of the machine got fused. When the complaint was registered with the company it was told that Ahmed would have to pay for the service charges as well as the replacement of rotator motor as this part is not cover under the warranty. Ahmed was not satisfied with the response of the company and wants to file a case against the company.
The structure of your report will consist of the following tasks:
1. Introduction:

· A statement of the objective of the task.
2. Discussion:
· Analyse the importance of consumer law considering the case given.
· Critically analyse the case with reference to the Consumer Protection Laws in Oman.
· Analyse the rights of Ahmed as a consumer according to consumer protection law in Oman.
· Provide the legal measures available to Ahmed according to Consumer Protection Laws in Oman.
3. Conclusion: Provide the conclusion of the case based on your understanding of Consumer Protection Laws.
